Live.Canstream Server Migration

Notice for All Streaming Service Users

 

We are pleased to announce that the migration of live.canstream.co.uk to new infrastructure was successfully completed on Thursday 21st August 2025 at midnight.

 

What Has Changed:

  • The streaming server has been upgraded to new, more reliable infrastructure
  • Performance and stability improvements have been implemented
  • All services have been transitioned with minimal disruption

 

Important Information for Broadcasters:

 

✓ No Impact If You:

  • Use live.canstream.co.uk as your server address in encoder settings
  • Have properly configured DNS settings on your equipment

 

⚠️ Action Required If You:

  • Are still using the legacy IP address to connect to our servers
  • Are using a Barix Instreamer or similar hardware encoder without DNS configuration

 

Configuration Requirements:

For those using hardware encoders or direct IP connections, please ensure your settings are updated:

 

Server Address:

  • Correct: live.canstream.co.uk
  • Deprecated: Direct IP address connections

 

For Barix Instreamer Users: DNS configuration is essential. Recommended settings:

  • Primary DNS: 1.1.1.1
  • Secondary DNS: 1.0.0.1

 

Without proper DNS configuration, hardware encoders cannot resolve domain names and will fail to connect.

 

Affected Services: Multiple radio stations and streaming services were successfully migrated during this transition. All services are now operating on the new infrastructure.

 

Technical Support: If you are experiencing connection issues following the migration:

  1. Verify you are using the domain name, not an IP address
  2. Check your DNS settings are properly configured
  3. Restart your encoder after making any changes
